You are God’s Masterpiece

Ephesians 2:10 (NLT) For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

You, like all Jesus’ followers, are the Holy Spirit’s home. Your design is more precious than the contents of Solomon’s temple. Made in the image of God, you are crafted for this time and this place.

It is not your external finery that concerns God. It is the internal foundation that He planned and put into you. Through Christ, we put on our new self, our God-created self, redeemed from wickedness. We now display His splendor, shining with His glory.

Offenses, grief, and shame mar the original design of our true selves, hidden even from our view, and we languish in self-doubt. But God sees beyond the blemished exterior of our spirit; He sees our true selves. Our made-in-His-image selves shine through to Him, and when we spend time with Him, the blemishes are polished away.

Through our God-honoring behavior, we reveal God’s righteousness, knowing we are set apart to do what is good and right in God’s eyes. It is in our original design, revealed when we trust Him with our faith in Jesus.

We are to own the words Paul wrote in Ephesians, “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”

“Masterpiece”, a work of outstanding artistry, skill, or workmanship! Do you see yourself that way? For most of us, this isn’t easy because we have lived differently from our original design. Whether it is our own choice or the choices of others, we believe we are less than or not worthy. This is far from the truth.

Tarnished from the world, our mistakes can ring louder in our minds than our true design. Turning away from those unacceptable actions, we turn to God and His plan. We believe we are forgiven, made new, and the past is behind us.  Let go of shame and grasp onto the person you are designed to become.

God’s grace pours over us, reforming us, embellishing our scars to reflect His redemptive power. He removes the stains, but the lessons learned remain to build wisdom within us. He kindly crafts us to outshine any other works formed by human hands. We shine with his craftsmanship when we do the good services we were born to do.

You are God’s masterpiece.
